Vintage Berkley Buccaneer No. BT5S-7 Travel Pack Spinning/Fly Combo

Although the labels have long since worn off, this is a Vintage Berkley Buccaneer No. BT5S-7 Travel / Pack Rod with homemade denim rod sock.  This is a REALLY cool pack rod that can be used as either a spinning rod or a fly rod.  When used as a fly rod, the angler simply slides off the bottom handle portion.  It was marketed as a 7' rod, but this one measures out at ~ 6' 10" with the handle fully assembled.  It has never been broken or repaired, and you can see from the photos that all 5 pieces are of identical lengths.  When it is disassembled, total length is about 18.5".  Made of durable fiberglass.  Aside from the portability, what makes this series of rods so great is the spigot in ferrule connections.  This makes for a more secure connection and it acts more like a single piece rod than one that is made up of 5 pieces.  This is the same connection technology utilized by Winston in all of their high end rods.  All guide wraps are tight, and this is ready to head up into the high country tomorrow!
