I rescue old, broken
reels, acquiring these classics and saving them from the
inevitable trip to a landfill by repurposing them into folk art for the
fisherman. The components will, most often, be "beautifully" flawed with any combination of dings, scratches, cracks,
rubs, rust, and who knows what else. And that's just the way I like to find
them—battle scarred from decades of use by fishers of decades ago. Oh, the
stories they could tell... This one, mounted on a wood cutout
of Wisconsin, is a HIAWATHA S-30, manufactured circa 1952 by the Great Lakes Mfg Co of Lexington, Michigan. A prism-bladed spinner bait hangs from the handle. A great display piece, it measures approximately 5" long x 5"
wide x 3/4" deep, is painted in colors suggesting the northern lights, and includes a hanger on the back. This one-of-a-kind item would also make a great gift for that special
relative or friend with whom you’ve shared memorable time on the water.
Whatever the case, it's a sure conversation piece to be enjoyed by all
who love
our hobby and its history. Shipping via USPS is actual cost to your
