Survival / Hobo Fishing Reel / Woodturned From Fine Hardwood. This fine piece of woodturning is 8 inches long, made from a piece of very nice dense hardwood that was given to me at a woodcarving meeting I used to be a member of. The handle is wrapped in blue 550 paracord. The body of this hobo fishing reel is drilled out at about 3/4 of an inch, for holding fishing tackle - some of which is included. There are two # 12 corks on each end to hold the tackle inside. And if you do by chance happen to drop it in the water, it will float. This reel is meant for fishing enjoyment, but most of all it's a piece of survival gear. You can easily fit the reel in a coat pocket, in your camping / bug-out bag, or in your glove box or anywhere else to keep it handy. It would also be very good for ice fishing. The paracord wrap can also be undone in a survival situation where a small amount of cordage is needed. It doesn't cast very far, but if you are just fishing for food, the reel should catch you something. Included is a tin container for collecting bait you can scrounge up.
