Survival / Hobo Fishing Reel / New Woodturned Hobo Fishing Reel / Fine Hardwood. This fine piece of woodturning is from a very dense piece of hardwood I don't know the name of. I was given the wood at a woodcarving meeting I used to go to. This hobo reel is 8 inches long, is drilled out from end to end about 3/4 of an inch. The ends are kept closed with two # 12 corks. The hollow is for holding fishing tackle- some of which is included. The handle is made from 550 green paracord which can be unraveled given a survival situation where a small amount of cordage is needed. This reel is meant for general fishing enjoyment. but most of all for a survival situation where you need some fish to eat. The reel can easily fit into a coat pocket or with your camping / bug-out gear or in your glovebox or anywhere it would be handy. The reel will float if dropped in the water and it should be fine for ice fishing. Included is a tin for collecting bait.
