The reel works other than the level wind.  If engaged the level wind eventually gets stuck and binds a little as you turn the handle.  I had loosed up the level wind so it would not engage.  Maybe best to remove the follower or fix the level wind.  I have a bunch of other reels for sale, and combined shipping is an option to reduce shipping per reel.
