Offered between 1934 and 1938, this was Bronson's apex reel. Constructed from German silver with chromium-plated pillars, foot, and hardware, it has light gray face- and tailplates, in which charcoal-gray fishing scenes are engraved. The engraved areas have a satin finish. (The coloration of the face- and tailplates may have been accomplished by anodizing the German silver, but I'm not sure. German silver can be anodized, but it is a much more laborious process that requires pretreating/coating the metal.) It has scalloped, marbled spacers behind both the head- and tailplates and matching marbled handle knobs. The reel has a lever controlled "duo click" on the tailplate and a lever-controlled antibacklash control on the faceplate. The reel appears to be very lightly fished. The reel is a strong Exc- with only minor handling wear. Along with the Bronson 5000A, perhaps the most attractive 20th-century reel, it is exceedingly scarce and in great condition.
