The Penn Squidder was 1st introduced before 1941 with the 140. The 145 was next in the series, and the 146 Narrow was produced from the early 60's to 2000. All parts are interchangable so it was easy to customize the Squidder. The 146 seems to be most desired today, but this 140 is spectacular. This reel was just serviced by the best Reel Service Tech in Orange County, California. He installed Carbon Drags and re-greased every moving part with the appropriate grease thickness required. I added all the other bells and whistles. There is no boat rash on this reel, but there are a few tiny scratches. I will try to capture them in the pictures. It has a excellent freespool and loud durable clicker. It works great and looks awesome. See Specs for list of upgrades.

The Squidder has a variety different fishing applications; flinging plastics in the kelp beds for Calicos, casting cut bait in the surf, light line fishing for Mahi Mahi, soaking chunks of Carp or Mackerel in lakes, rivers or spill ways and you could even use it for Bass fishing in a pinch. Although that wouldn't be fair to the fish. This Squidder has been done up and tuned up. It works better now than when it was brand new.
